OPERATION OF THE MULTIPLAY SURROUND DECODER

Integration of any TV and audio equipment (from B&O and other manufacturers) into surround systems with B&O speakers
You want to play the music of your Sonos Connect and the sound of your B&O system through your surround speakers and subwoofer without having to turn on your TV with another remote control?
Simply connect all your devices to our Multiplay Surround - it will automatically turn on all your speakers as soon as it detects an audio signal, whether it comes from the surround TV, the B&O system or any other device.

Stereo sources and a surround speaker system - this is how playback is done
If your TV is active and a program with surround sound is running, then everything is played back in 5.1 mode - i.e. on the two front speakers, the two rear speakers, the center and the subwoofer.
If, on the other hand, you are listening to a stereo source (e.g. the B&O audio system or your Sonos Connect), the Multiplay Surround also creates a room-filling sound - the music is automatically played back on all 4 surround speakers including the subwoofer in the so-called SPEAKER 4 mode.

Automatic source management with priority switching
The almando Multiplay Surround Decoder has an automatic source management. You therefore only ever need the respective remote control to operate one of the connected devices and can also control the volume in this way.
The connected sources have different priorities. If several sources are active, you will only hear the one with the highest priority - this prevents any confusion with devices playing at the same time.


COMPATIBILITY

Bang & Oufsen - 100% compatible with B&O Powerlink signal standards
Powerlink signals from connected Bang & Olufsen sources are simply looped through.
All other audio signals from devices of other manufacturers - whether digital or analog - are converted into a 100% standard B&O Powerlink signals including the switching voltage required for the B&O speakers.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 5
Even with non-B&O devices (Sonos, Loewe, etc.) Beolab 5 speakers are automatically activated, an additional switching on with the B&O remote control is NOT necessary.
Important note: Be sure to use fully wired Powerlink cables with data wire for this!

Stream music wirelessly from smartphone or tablet
What about the music on your iPhone or Android phone? Wouldn't you like to play them through your B&O speakers, preferably moving freely around the room - without the hassle of a docking station and remote control?
With the new almando PLAY app, you can simply select and start an Internet radio station.
The almando Multiplay Surround Decoder is also certified for Airplay 2 and Chromecast Audio. That means you can listen to music from a variety of apps (Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Soundcloud, Youtube, TuneIn Radio, etc.) in the best quality on your speakers.

Sonos Multiroom
Add a Sonos Connect or Sonos Port to your Bang & Olufsen system and enjoy an endless selection of songs and radio stations from around the world. Of course, you can still play your CDs through the system as usual.
You can connect the Sonos Connect or Sonos Port either digitally or analog to the Almando Multiplay Surround Decoder.
In this way, you equip your home with a first-class, easy-to-use multi-room system without having to give up your beloved B&O system.
In each zone (room) of your Sonos multiroom system, you can play either different music or the same music absolutely synchronously in party mode.

Which speakers can be connected
An adapter cable (RJ45/Powerlink) can be used to connect all active Beolab loudspeakers from Bang & Olufsen that have a Powerlink connector (round 8-pin DIN socket). These include:

Which speakers can NOT be connected
No Bang & Olufsen Masterlink speakers can be connected directly to the almando Multiplay Surround Decoder.
This includes:
  - Beolab 2000
  - Beolab 3500
  - LCS 9000
However, you can connect these speakers via an almando Masterplay. This is connected to the Powerlink output of the almando Multiplay Surround Decoder and converts the Powerlink signal into a Masterlink signal and automatically activates the Masterlink speaker at the same time.

Der Multiplay hat mehrere Ausgänge - wie Sie hier Ihre Lautsprecher angeschließen können
Der 5.1 Surround-Ausgang bestehet aus sechs RJ45 Buchsen. An jeder liegt jeweils ein Powerlink-Signal an - zwei Buchsen für die Frontlautsprecher, zwei Buchsen für die Rücklautsprecher, eine Buchse für den Center und eine Buchse kombiniert für Subwoofer und Center.
Ein Powerlink-Signal beinhaltet immer beide Stereo-Signale also sowohl den linken als auch den rechten Kanal. Mit einem Optionsschalter am B&O Lautsprecher legen Sie fest, ob dieser den linken oder rechten Kanal wiedergeben soll.
Die Verkabelung kann entweder einzeln zu jedem Lautsprecher separat  erfolgen, oder von einem Lautsprecher weiter zum nächsten durchgeschleift werden (nacheinander wie bei einer Lichterkette) sowie auch alternativ mit einem Y-Adapter von einer Ausgangsbuchse zu zwei Lautsprechern geführt werden.

Anschluss von passiven Lautsprechern
Passive Lautsprecher können nicht direkt am almando Multiplay Surround Decoder angeschlossen werden – über geeignete Endstufen oder über einen zusätzlichen Verstärker wie z.B. einem Beolink Passive ist dies aber ohne Probleme möglich.


EINFACHE INSTALLATION

Plug & Play
Die Installation des Multiplay Surround Decoder ist kinderleicht - einfach zusammenstecken, evtl. bei Bedarf noch ein paar Einstellungen mit der Konfigurations-App treffen und das Gerät ist in wenigen Minuten bertriebsbereit.

Volle Kontrolle
In der Regel ist die Installation damit schon erledigt. Trotzdem bietet die App optional noch die Möglichkeit, während des Betriebs diverse Einstellungen zu treffen (Lautsprecher-Konfiguration, Klangeinstellungen wie Höhen, Bässe, Loudness, etc.).


HINWEISE

Welche Quellen können angeschlossen werden
Am Multiplay Surround Decoder können beliebige Zuspiel-Geräte angeschlossen werden. Idealerweise verfügen sie über eine eigene Lautstärkeregelung und somit über einen variablen Ausgang - z.B. TV-Geräte mit einem HDMI ARC/CEC-Anschluss, B&O Geräte, Apple Airport Express, SONOS Connect, Denon Heos, Google Chromecast Audio, etc.

Automatische Quellenaktivierung wahlweise durch intelligente Signalerkennung oder durch externe Schaltspannung
Sobald eine Schaltspannung bzw. ein Audiossignal anliegt, wird es vom almando Multiplay Surround erkannt, ggf. mit Dolby bzw. DTS decodiert und in ein B&O Powerlink-Signal mit Schaltspannung konvertiert. Wenn die Quelle kein Signal mehr liefert (z.B. wenn sie auf stumm oder ausgeschaltet ist), sorgt eine intelligente Schaltung für eine Nachlaufzeit (30 Sek. - 2 Min.) - erst dann werden die Ausgangs-Signale abgeschaltet und Lautsprecher gehen in Standby.
